“Odds and Ends” in Crack the Spine

I wish to thank Kerri Farrell Foley, editor of Crack the Spine, for publishing my story “Odds and Ends.” This is my second appearance in this innovative journal. Crack the Spine is a weekly digital publication dedicated to showcasing “diverse and sharp literary works, including flash fiction, micro-fiction, poetry, short stories, and creative non-fiction.”

“Odds and Ends” begins on page 33 in the current issue, #177. Crack the Spine is formatted via a platform called “issuu” and resembles a book. The contents are easily viewed a page at a time on a tablet, or can be read in full screen on a lap- or desktop computer. Issuu includes a handy feature that allows the reader to clip passages and share them on social media.

“Odds and Ends” is set in America’s heartland. This story has special meaning for me, and I hope you enjoy it.
