Many thanks to Darrell Laurant, for featuring Lovers and Loners in the latest edition of Snowflakes in a Blizzard. Please visit this book-saving site and take a look at some fine work you might not otherwise encounter. In the meantime, here are a few words from Darrell:
“Given the current technology, virtually anyone who wants to publish a book can now do so. And that’s a good thing, because I believe everyone has something of value to say and something to teach the rest of us.
But it’s also bad news for individual writers, because the chance that someone will randomly pick up or click on a particular book has decreased exponentially. I chose the name for this blog because getting noticed for a writer in this market — especially a new, unknown writer — is like a snowflake trying to stand out in a blizzard.”
My deep thanks to Ti at Book Chatter for this review of Strange Company. Ti usually reviews works of fiction, particularly novels, and I admire her penetrating insights and gentle guidance. I appreciate the kindness she offered me in accepting this essay collection for review.
I am honored and delighted to have won second place in this contest for my story “Savages.”
On The Premises is an online fiction magazine founded in 2006 by Tarl Kudrick and Bethany Granger.
Stories published in On The Premises are winning entries in short story contests launched each December and June. Each contest challenges writers to produce a great story based on a broad premise supplied by the editors. Winning stories are published in each April and October.
I am grateful to editors Tarl and Bethany for this opportunity and distinction.
A big thank you to the editors of Every Writer’s Resource for sharing my story “Chasing Zero.” This story takes a look at the flavor and fragrance industry and concerns a woman with a mysterious illness who loses her grip on the callous man she adores.
An invaluable tool for any author, Every Writer’s Resource is a site of literary markets, book publishers, literary magazines, poetry, short stories, articles and resources on writing.
I wish to thank editor Darrell Laurant for featuring my novel LOST SISTER on his website Snowflakes in a Blizzard. Darrell approached me with this idea, having found LOST SISTER on Amazon. In the blizzard of books available to us now, he aims to showcase works of merit and reintroduce them to the public. Please visit his website to discover more good reads and become acquainted with their authors. You can read about Darrell’s mission here, and don’t miss that last line. I love his vision, his kindness and his wonderful sense of humor.
As a writer, I strive for economy, precision and beauty. As a reader, I look for the same qualities; if I don’t find them, I’ll abandon the book.
I just read Mothers and Other Creatures: A bioStories Anthology, and I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Every story is genuine, moving and memorable, and the writing is first-rate, free of superfluity. Kudos to the talented contributors and many thanks to editor Mark Leichliter for culling such a fine collection. Please visit his website, bioStories, to read more excellent essays.
Four Ties Lit Review has just published its Authors Speak page. I offer a one-minute audio on the origins of my story, “Lovers and Loners.”
My thanks to editor Matt Larrimore for giving the contributors this exciting opportunity to connect with readers.
