My deep thanks to the editors of The Compassion Anthology for including my story “Greyhound” in the new edition. And special thanks to Midge Raymond of Ashland Creek Press for submitting my work. This stunning issue, comprised of fiction, poetry, essays and art, reflects the editors’ commitment to bringing forth environmental offerings encompassing mindfulness, reverence and awe.

Congratulations, Jean!
Thank you, Ann. It’s an honor to be part of this project.
How is it possible that I felt anxious reading this story again, laughed at the same moment when Fawn surprised even herself with her version of a primal yawp in the kitchen and burst into tears again when I read the final paragraph? Oh, that’s right. The power of brilliant writing. It was new to me again though I recalled its ins and outs (is that an ee cummings thing?, ‘its ins and outs’?, maybe…I dunno…anyway). I will now go back to read and contribute to The Compassion Anthology simply because they had the good sense to publish this beautiful story. And I’m grateful, too, to have Survival Skills to return to read again….and again. Thank you, Jean Ryan! HAIL! XOXO
As ever, I am indebted to your kindness, John. Thank you so much. 💞
